Ann's Friends Speak Out

HeatherGrowing up in Boise, Idaho, you didn't see or hear much about the outside world. People kept to themselves and life was simple.

When I was told I would be moving to Washington, D.C., I was a little nervous. Everyone said it was the murder capitol of the country and I better watch my back.

This is where I met a very good friend of mine, Ann Harris. The only thing that scares me now is that Ann wasn't murdered in Washington, D.C. She was murdered in Washington state. A neighboring state to Idaho where I thought growing up was safe. What does this tell us? Violence isn't in L.A., New York, or D.C. Violence is everywhere. It has no color, no sex, and no age. Violence is blind and will hit anyone at anytime.

Violence isn't like cancer, or AIDS, or accidents. It's something that can be controlled and eventually conquered. Violence doesn't effect just the east coast or just the west coast. It happens in every state to almost anybody. If everyone just did a little then maybe we can build a safer America. Maybe we can save lives, maybe even our own.

DaveAnn's Campaign has showed me a whole new way of life and helped me realize and understand not only my needs, but everyone else's. Many people walk around with their heads down thinking life is a one way street. They believe their needs are the only things that matter. The problem is they never care enough to look up and realize that everyone else is traveling down the same road.

Today I look back and realize that I was one of those people, the only difference is now I see everyone. Ann's Campaign has brought a clear understanding that everyone will need help at some point.

Through her campaign hopefully not only I, but everyone will be able to see that no matter what our differences may be, we are all equal in the eyes of God.
